Entry in the Bristol Times & Mirror newspaper on Saturday November 13th. 1897 -

 

Mr.J.S.Maitland, Inspector of Factories, prosecuted Robert Moon, a Tinware Manufacture, of Temple Backs, for employing two persons under 16 years of age without a certificate of fitness, also for failing to keep a register of the children employed by him. He was fined 20 shillings in each of the three cases.

Wycliffe Sunday School. On Wednesday the annual distribution pf prizes to scholars attending the Wycliffe Sunday School took place, Mr.Robert Moon, the superintendent, being in the chair. The Rev.W.J.Betts (President of the school) supported him, and the presentation of the prizes to deserving scholars was undertaken by Mrs.W.J.Betts.1

Note on Wife: Sarah A. BRUTON

In 1861 she was living at 30 Tower Street, Temple, Bristol with her mother (a widow) and her brother Stephen. She was 21 years old, unmarried and a Machine Worker from St.Pauls, Bristol. Also living with them as a lodger was Anne Bristow, aged 20 and unmarried, a Stay Maker from St. Phillips, Bristol.
